FAQ

How do I unlock the Radiance fight?
Get the Void Heart (White Palace → Kingsoul → Abyss), then fight the Hollow Knight normally until Hornet pins it — Dream Nail the boss during that window to enter the dream and face her.
Does dying to the Radiance end my run?
Yes — despite being fought inside a dream, the Radiance does NOT count as a dream battle. Dying is a real death: you drop your Geo and Shade, and you must re-fight the Hollow Knight from the start before each attempt.
What is Absolute Radiance?
Her Godmaster-powered perfect form, fought at the top of the Pantheon of Hallownest after beating Pure Vessel — faster patterns, altered arena. Beating her grants the Embrace the Void ending (or Delicate Flower variant).
Which ending does the Radiance give?
Dream No More — the Infection is purged, the Black Egg vanishes, and the Knight's fate is implied rather than shown. It's the good ending, and it permanently locks the basic ending on that save via Void Heart.

The Radiance is the light that infected Hallownest — the forgotten god the Pale King sealed inside a vessel, and the reason the kingdom dreams in orange. She’s Hollow Knight’s true final boss, hiding one Dream Nail strike past the ending most players see first.

How do I reach the Radiance?

The fight isn’t in the world — it’s inside the Hollow Knight’s mind. Requirements:

  1. Void Heart — evolve the Kingsoul charm by braving the White Palace, then descend into the Abyss for the memory.
  2. Fight the Hollow Knight in the Temple of the Black Egg until Hornet — the future star of Silksong — swoops in and pins it.
  3. Dream Nail the Hollow Knight while it’s restrained — you’re inside. (The nail must be awoken — 1,800 Essence at the Seer. Hesitate too long and you get the Sealed Siblings ending instead.)

How does the four-stage fight work?

1,700 HP across four stages — each stage weakens her arena as the Void creeps in:

  • Stage 1–2 (350 + 400 HP): the full kit — Beam Bursts, Sword Bursts, Sword Rain from above, sweeping Sword Walls, and the Wall of Light. Sword Rain always leaves standing gaps; don’t drift.
  • Stage 3 (250 HP): the floor cracks into platforms — she floats mid-air with infinite Sword Rain. This is the nail-bounce exam.
  • Stage 4 (700 HP): everything returns denser as the Void closes around you both. Stay central; the walls of light are dodgeable with Shade Cloak timing.

What’s the winning strategy?

  • Soul management decides this. Every heal is a risk under projectile weather — Descending Dark’s i-frames buy breathing room.
  • Sword Rain is a heal window. If you’re below a gap, cast once per wall.
  • She’s a war of attrition, not a duel. There is no parry bait, no pattern skip — just reading light. Longer runs are normal.

What do I get?

Dream No More — the true ending and an achievement. Then, for the masochists: Absolute Radiance waits at the top of the Pantheon of Hallownest in Godmaster’s Godhome — same fight, no mercy. If Grimm still stands between you and godhood, the Nightmare King Grimm guide is the other dream-wall on the way.
